Last week I was cleaning up my files and in my haste, I accidentally deleted some of the files needed to run Dreamweaver (an html editor used for making websites and other custom html files). Instead of panicking, I googled “alternative to Dreamweaver” and after a little searching around, found a decent temporary solution: Kompozer by Mozilla. Kompozer is a WYSIWYG (What You See is What You Get) html editor like Dreamweaver, but a whole lot simpler, open-source (like WordPress and Firefox) and free.
I downloaded the program and within minutes I was able to edit an html email design project that I had started in Dreamweaver. I made the changes I wanted, previewed the file, and it looked perfect. I copied the code into Constant Contact (an email marketing service) to create a test email, sent the test email out, and it worked. The program did crash once while I was using it, but I just re-started and kept going.
If you have any experience with Kompozer or another open-source html editing program that you would like to share, please leave a comment on this post.
Here to help you make your finest dreams come true,
-Catherine
